The Information Is Free. That’s Not the Problem.
I'll say it, I’m bored of nutrition.
It took me fifteen years, but I’ve pretty much figured it out.
Want to lose weight? There’s a recipe for that. Fix your blood work? Done. Bloating, gut issues, the 2pm crash? Solved problems.
So what keeps me up at night isn’t the what. It’s why almost nobody does it.
The upside is obvious. You can look and feel amazing if you want to. There’s some nuance to the methods, sure. But it’s not rocket science.
And here’s the part nobody in my industry wants to say out loud: the information is free. Any halfway decent AI will write you a detailed fat loss plan in thirty seconds. No charge.
Knowing was never the hard part. Doing is.
Look around. You don’t have to go far to find someone who wants to drop 40 pounds. Roughly 4 in 10 American adults have obesity. Add overweight and it’s closer to 3 in 4. Yup, most of us. That’s not a fringe problem. That’s the default setting.
And it’s not because we’re lazy or gluttonous. I’ve looked hard for the moral failing. It isn’t there.
We got outplayed.
Food companies exist to make money for shareholders. That’s not a conspiracy theory, it’s the job description. For a food company, more money means more food sold, and more food sold means you eat more of it. They hired the sharpest food scientists and marketers on the planet to make that happen.
It worked. Look around again if you don't believe me.
So getting healthy today isn’t about dodging the obvious junk food and not eating fast food every day like it used to be. To be truly healthy you have to be so different from average that people will notice. Coworkers comment on your lunch. Friends call you extreme. Family asks if you’re “still doing that diet.”
That’s the friction. And most people turn around the second they feel it.
If you want to look great, feel great, and get old while staying strong instead of fragile, something has to give. Priorities get rearranged. Some of that won’t be fun.
That’s the part I care about now.
ChatGPT can tell you what to do. Honestly, its answer won’t be far off from mine. But when you try, fall off, and feel like an idiot on day 11? The conversation that happens next is where results are made or lost. Technology can’t have that one yet.
You need someone on your team pulling against the current. Because the current is strong, and it only runs one direction: back to average. Back to mediocrity. Back to the 3 in 4.
Name a pro athlete without a coach. You can’t. And it’s not because they don’t understand their sport. It’s because the coach carries the decisions they’re too tired to make and holds the standard on the days they won’t.
The information is easy. It always was.
The coaching is what gets it done.

Stay strong out there,
